OUR MEDICAL DIRECTOR
Medical Director – Dr. Darioush Kavouspour, MD, FACS
Dr. Darioush Kavouspour brings nearly 30 years of surgical and trauma care experience to Winnie-Stowell EMS, where he has served as Medical Director since 2018. His leadership ensures that our agency delivers the highest standard of emergency medical care to the communities we serve.
A board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Kavouspour holds extensive training in both traditional and advanced surgical techniques, including robotic and laparoscopic surgery. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from UCLA in 1986, he completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Emory University in 1990. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at the University of South Florida, where he later served as an Assistant Professor of Trauma and General Surgery, performing over 1,500 surgical cases and training future surgeons.
Since relocating to Beaumont in 1997, Dr. Kavouspour has played a vital role in developing trauma care in the region. He co-founded Surgical Critical Care Associates and helped launch the Trauma Center at CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital. He continues to serve as Assistant Director of Trauma Services and holds multiple medical directorships across Southeast Texas, including Beaumont EMS, Air Rescue Helicopter System, Lumberton EMS, and City of Beaumont Health Department.
With more than 8,000 surgical procedures performed and a passion for advancing emergency care, Dr. Kavouspour’s guidance and medical oversight help ensure that Winnie-Stowell EMS delivers advanced, life-saving care with precision, compassion, and excellence.
